Visits & Tours

 RE: Religious Education - Islam

Throughout the year we receive visitors from various organizations and establishments who travel from all around the Merseyside to see the Mosque.

The Mosque has achieved a very prestigious image in the eyes of the British people and institutions.

This is partly due to its being the main mosque in Liverpool. The Mosque is very popular and heavily booked for organized visits and guided tours. Thus it is part of our daily activity to   receive school visits as Islam forms apart of World Religion taught in state schools.

This therefore presents the Liverpool Muslim Society with an opportunity to explain the many aspects of Islam to these students. These visits normally are organized on a prior appointment basis only by booking via letters or telephone calls, whereupon they are given a tour of the whole Mosque premises

followed by a “Question & Answer” session lasting up to 45 minutes. Some schools may bring their own work sheet of questions for their students to go through with our guide. Various simple leaflets and Islamic literature are presented to the students if and when the needs arise.

In addition to students from secondary schools, the LMS also entertains similarly adults groups of visitors from wide range of background such Social workers, Religious Education Teachers, Health Workers, Race Relations Officers, University Lectures and Students, Interfaith Groups, and Lay Visitors alike.

If you are interested in booking a visit to the mosque or to your school, please complete and return the information form below. The most suitable day and time are from Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 2.30pm. The vists are for 1 hour approx. Please note we do not do school visits on a Friday.

Please remember that you are responsible for doing your own risk assessment.  If you make a preparatory visit our staff or committee member will advise you of any important points to look out for.  Please do not ask our staff or any committee member to check or sign any sections of your risk assessment form as they do not have any responsibility to do so.   Al Rahma Mosque Mosque carries £5 million Public Liability (PLI) cover for the risks associated with visitors to our site.   We require you to have at least one adult to every six children in a group containing pupils of school years one to three.  The ratio must be at least 1 to 10 for four to sixteen years.   Group leaders must take responsibility for their group and supervise their pupils or students during the visit.  Remember that whilst every effort has been made by Al Rahma Mosque to protect visitors from unsuspected hazards it is not possible to make an historic property as safe as a modern building.  Teachers must stress this to pupils or students before the visit, and must ensure that they are closely supervised at all times while on site.  As part of risk assessment, group leaders should check with their Local Education Authority or employer about their own insurance and health and safety requirements.
